Music by Porter Robinson will soundtrack the radiant Coachella Island, a digital doppelgänger of its IRL namesake where players can explore virtual replicas of the festival’s hallmarks, like its iconic ferris wheel.
The unlikely combo of Coachella and Fortnite are proving that even the most unlikely duos can make sweet harmony together.
The iconic festival and gaming behemoth have joined forces to launch Coachella Island, a new virtual destination for creator-driven music and art experiences. The two are twisting the knife into last year’s groundbreaking collaboration, which introduced Coachella-themed skins and in-game music to Fortnite players.
Coachella Island is essentially a digital doppelgänger of its IRL namesake. According to a press release shared with EDM.com, fans in the “music-reactive” universe can explore desert mountains, polo fields, palm trees and virtual replicas of the festival’s hallmarks, like its fabled ferris wheel.
Music by Porter Robinson will soundtrack the gameplay and provide a soundscape that “will evolve the island over time.” Fortnite players can also tune into Icon Radio to rinse tracks by the many artists featured on Coachella’s 2023 lineup, which features Calvin Harris, Eric Prydz, Tale of Us, Kaytranada and more.

These days, the Coachella faithful is a community whose raison d’être isn’t music, but style. Ergo, Coachella-themed Outfits are back in the Fortnite Item Shop this year and users can snag two new getups inspired by the festival’s resplendent desert grounds: “Sunset Alto” and “Desert Dawn Lyric.” All items will be available for purchase starting Thursday, April 13th at 8pm ET (5pm PT).

Coachella Island launches on Fortnite on April 14th at 3pm ET (12pm PT). Fans can access it via the “Epic’s Picks” Discover row or input island code 5449-4207-12803.
