John Summit’s Future Burns Bright at “Summertime Chi” Hometown Pop-Up

John Summit’s unrelenting tear across the festival circuit paused for a brief moment in the producer’s hometown—and an intimate gathering of fans bore witness to what’s next for the meteoric producer.
Heading into the holiday weekend, Summit’s game-time pop-up show announcement—made in partnership with Chicago’s Auris Presents—shows just how far he’s come in a short period of time.
The surprise outing sold out in mere minutes, even with a two-ticket purchase maximum. Additionally, a less than desirable weather forecast didn’t deter fans who filled the Space Stage Studios lot for supporting acts Mary Droppinz, Lee Foss and D&S.
Now a Miami resident, Summit hasn’t shied away from his roots in the birthplace of house music. In fact, the decision to open up with “In Chicago” felt like a welcome victory lap for the party-starting superstar. Summit additionally illuminated his burgeoning tastemaker status by playing new hits from his Off The Grid label, including Mau P’s titillating house banger “Your Mind Is Dirty.”
Summit also gave the crowd new material to chew on in the weeks ahead. Teasing an official remix of deadmau5 and Kaskade’s dance classic, “I Remember,” in addition to an upcoming original, “Fade Out” (with MKLA), he showcased that his hit-making potential is only just starting to be tapped.
Fans can catch Summit in Chicago again over Labor Day weekend, when he’s scheduled to fill his first hometown festival headlining performance at Arc Music Festival.
