Joan As Police Lady proclaims ‘The Resolution is Stressed’, a brand new album with Dave Okumu and the late Tony Allen

Joan As Police Lady – the venture of Joan Wasser – has introduced a collaborative new album titled ‘The Resolution is Stressed’, written and recorded with the late Tony Allen and The Invisible’s Dave Okumu.
‘The Resolution is Stressed’ is the ninth studio album by Wasser below her long-running venture. It is usually one of many closing studio recordings of Allen, who died in April 2020.
Born out of a night-long improvisation session in a Parisian studio, ‘The Resolution is Stressed’ can be launched on November 5 by way of PIAS Recordings. Its first single, ‘Take Me To Your Chief’, has been launched. Watch its music video beneath.
In keeping with a press launch, the improvised recordings laid a basis for Wasser to work on the album throughout lockdown. ‘Take Me To Your Chief’, Wasser says, is its “most incendiary” tune.
“I wrote it watching Jacinda Ardern, PM of New Zealand, navigate 2020,” Wasser stated. “In my dreamworld, the US asks to satisfy her with the intention to learn to higher run the nation.”
Wasser was initially acquainted with Allen in 2019 by way of longtime pal Damon Albarn – who contributed to ‘The Resolution is Stressed’ on the tune ‘Get My Bearings’. Wasser and Allen carried out a Nina Simone tune dwell earlier than convening within the studio months later. Wasser contributed to Albarn’s venture Gorillaz for the deluxe version of their 2020 album, ‘Music Machine, Season One: Unusual Timez’.
In Could, a full-length posthumous album by Tony Allen was launched by Blue Be aware, titled ‘There Is No Finish’. The album options contributions by Albarn, Skepta, Danny Brown, and Sampa the Nice.
However, The Invisible’s Dave Okumu is about to launch his debut solo album, ‘Knopperz’, in September by way of Transgressive.
