Mascis started engaged on ‘What Do We Do Now’ through the COVID pandemic. He began making a sequence of songs on acoustic guitar at his personal Bisquiteen Studio in Amherst, Massachusetts, US and the ensuing materials had a “totally different dynamic” to the music of Dinosaur Jr.
