Anjunadeep warmly welcomes legendary digital act NERO for his or her Anjunadeep debut with their remix of Lakou Mizik & Joseph Ray’s ‘No Rival!’.
The remix sees the collision of two worlds for Joseph Ray as he companions with fellow NERO founding member Daniel Stephens to reinterpret his single with Lakou Mizik. Constructing on the fervent, unrestrained vitality of the unique, the duo harness the fervour of its chants, Rara horns, and percussion, to rework it into an electrifying, bass-heavy two-step anthem.
The fourth single off the album Go away the Bones, ’No Rival! pays homage to Rara, the music of the Haitian streets. Similar to the unique, NERO’s remix of ‘No Rival!’ is filled with swagger, just like the bands that march by the cities of the island nation, toasting and making an attempt to outdo each other. Retaining the spirit of the lyrics, the remix emphatically says “Pay attention up! There’s no higher band than Lakou Mizik!”
